Residency announced National Museum of the Royal Navy and HMS Victory

I am very honoured to have been invited to be the first ever artist in residence at the Historic Dockyards in Portsmouth.

‘The residency will be hosted by the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth and its three sister museums – the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport,  the  Fleet Air Arm Museum – RNAS Yeovilton and the Royal Marines Museum in Portsmouth over a two year period, starting in Spring 2013.  Helen will have unique access to the vast archives that chart pivotal moments in British history, including manuscripts and artefacts relating to early explorers such as Captain Cook, scientific expeditions to polar regions, the role of the British navy in the abolition of the slave trade, the iconic story of HMS Victory and Nelson, through to the tumultuous heritage of the twentieth century, the evolution of aviation and the submarine and beyond.’
